Preparing for Disaster Data Recovery

The thought of having a disaster whether natural or otherwise is scary enough but when you think about all that will be lost, it is even scarier. No matter what kind of disaster you have, there will not only be data lost but also human lives. Human lives cannot be brought back but if you have the right plan in place, you can recover all your lost data. Of course we never want any kind of disaster to happen but as soon as we become lax and not prepared, that is when it will happen, when we least expect it.

Not only does the government need to prepare but also the IT organizations all over the world and private citizens do as well, just in case. No doubt the government has disaster plans already in place as do IT organizations as a matter of fact, the most people in the world who lose data due to a disaster are private citizens and small businesses. The main questions are, are you using a backup system and if so, are you backing up everything you need to? Assuming you are using a computer for your files, as most people do, how are you backing up your personal and or business information?
Years ago, backing up took forever, storage was expensive and there was never enough space causing you to have to either go buy more or delete the files you have no room for.  Now however, it is much less expensive, you can get Terabytes of space in a small external hard drive, making it pretty much unlimited and it only takes a matter of a few minutes to backup an entire system. It also used to be that people thought they only needed to backup personal data, photos, personal webpages,  etc. but if you were involved in a disaster and the only thing you had time to grab was your external hard drive, how would you access it without your system CDs or operating system CDs and applications.

Not only is it vital to backup personal information and data, it is even more vital to backup your online business. In the case of a disaster, what if your server went down and you had to go with another one to keep your business up and running. Would you have all the necessary files to send to the new server? Not if you have not backed up everything. If your only means of earning a living is your online business you must backup the entire website. That includes bookmarks and email addresses as well as emails that have customer information so they can be contacted as soon as the disaster passes.
Probably the most important thing after everything is backed up is making sure you can recover all that data. If your computer was lost in the disaster, you will have to buy a new one. In that case, you need to make sure that the external hard drive you have everything backed up on will be compatible with the new computer. Before you buy a new computer, make sure and know what your OS is so you will be able to get a computer that is compatible with that. If you do these things, it should not take you long to install your OS and browser on the new computer, install and recover all your data and get back up and running.

Advantages of security camera systems

This article will narrate the main advantage of surveillance cameras.

Security camera systems have redefined protection and security for homes and offices. With the wide range and variety of options available in market today and with the latest advances in technologies, surveillance cameras have indeed elevated the levels of security management and enforcement. Let’s look at some of the advantages of security camera systems:

Preventing illegal activities and theft- The basic function of a surveillance camera is to keep an eye on suspicious people who may be indulging in illegal activities like theft, robbery and other illicit activities. They are now the main tool used for ensuring security, used in almost all places like bungalows, apartment buildings, schools, offices, malls, townhouses, condominiums, university campuses, stores and other public areas. These cameras help in alerting the security system and thus prevent theft, shoplifting and vandalism from happening.

Can be used as witnesses- Security camera systems are now extensively used by the police and crime investigation departments to inspect any record of crime that may prove useful for a case. Extended central command systems and new- generation surveillance cameras can record all kinds of sound and voices. Thus it can locate and record any form of rough or illegal behavior like sexual harassment, rough behavior at workplace or college campus. The audio records can be used in sexual harassment cases. Employees caught stealing office materials and denying the act can be hauled at court by producing the surveillance camera record.

Reduce cost- It often becomes expensive for large businesses, like large industries, office campuses, and also large malls to maintain security staff at every nook and corner of the building. Once these businesses are done with the initial investment of buying the systems, they are further not monetarily bothered, like in
paying monthly wages to the security staff. Most mall now install the state- of- the- art surveillance cameras that are managed from centrally control rooms to monitor security, especially in the parking lots and outlying areas. Shop and boutique owners install the system for a second level protection.

Home surveillance- Security cameras have also proved a boon for home surveillance. As both the parents are now going out of home to earn money, they often have to employ a babysitter with the duty of taking care of their baby. With a hidden surveillance camera, parents can keep an eye on the attitude and behavior
of the babysitter towards the baby. Surveying the records, parents can fire the babysitter if her behavior towards the child is not very favorable. The record can also act a strong witness for the parents to violent act that has taken place against the baby.

Ease of installation- The added benefit of security camera systems is their incredible ease of installation. Owing to their well adaptive style and design the business or home- owners can themselves install the system within a short amount of time. Larger camera systems may require more time for installation due to the large coverage range that needs to be covered.

The benefits of using LaserJet printers

LaserJet printers are a series of laser printers produced by HP (Hewlett- Packard). Though the term is a brand name that exclusively includes HP printers, it has become a generic name that refers laser printers.

LaserJet printers were first introduced in 1984 and over time have undergone several changes. It has now become much more affordable and smaller than its previous model. Though it was first introduced to be used exclusively for business, it is now being extensively used for home tasks as well. LaserJet printers are used for a variety of tasks, like printing documents and photographs, making copies, charts and diagrams, etc. They are ideal for printing large volumes of high quality documents, keeping the cost down.

The original LaserJet was an IBM- compatible model that could be used only to produce texts. However, the first model to achieve widespread popularity was the LaserJet 4 series that was introduced in 1992.

LaserJet printers make use of toner (a fine powder) that is stored in large cartridges, unlike inkjet printers that use liquid ink stored in small cartridges. LaserJet printers use an electronically charged drum to apply the toner to the paper after which it applies heat so that the toner binds to the paper. Like colour inkjet printers, colour LaserJet printers also store the different coloured toners in different cartridges. Laser printers are more expensive than inkjet printers but have many advantages as well.

Let us look at some of its advantages:

•LaserJet printers are characterized by their efficiency and speed of printing. In fact, LaserJet printers are termed ‘page printers’ because of their incredible speed of printing a page at a time and printing it very fast.

•LaserJet printers hardly produce any sound while operating.

•The output of the LaserJet printers is of a very high quality. This owes to its technology- the use of electro photography for printing. The details in graphics and text are impeccable. Streaks, filminess, smears are an impossibility.

•Besides high quality high speed printing, LaserJet printers offer other features as well, like self- printing (printing without any manual supervision). Many models also support automatic 2- sided printing. There are also all- in- one colour LaserJet printers that include scanners, fax machine and copier. Some models have card readers which can help to directly print photos, without the aid of computers.

•LaserJet printers can produce more copies than inkjet printers. When you consider the total number of pages printed, toner proves to be much more economical option than ink.

•LaserJet printers are more durable, their designs are more futuristic.

•As LaserJet printers work on toner, there’s no worry about the ink leaking from the cartridge and damaging the printer (as is the case with inkjet printers).

•In addition to regular printer paper, LaserJet printers can also use archival paper, vellum and laser photo paper.

If you are looking for high quality LaserJet printers, contact the LaserJet supplies of your locality who specialize in providing high quality printers. You can also search online for good contractors.

6 Tips for Choosing the Best Domain Names

Choosing a good domain name can be a hassle. If you pick a domain name you may be infringing with the copyright of others. It is a source of stress if you pick a name that will be unappealing to people. There is no magic bullet in choosing the best domain name. This can be a huge reason to feel so much anxiety. Never fear, here are some tips that you can use to choose the best domain names.

Check for trademarks
You may be keen in using a nice domain name. However it may be already a trademark that is owned by somebody else. It is important that you make the proper research to sniff out if the domain name that you like is already copyrighted. You may get into trouble and be accused of cyber squatting for taking the trademark which is owned already. It is best to do your homework before making the leap to have or purchase the domain names.

Make the domain unique
To avoid engaging in trouble with copyright owners, make sure that you have a very unique domain name. Not to be confused by using a domain name that was derived from a misspelling of a popular trademark. It may be different but it may be confusingly similar. It would also be wise to choose a domain name that tells exactly what your website is all about. This way, your online visitors will not have a hard time remembering the domain name of your site whenever they want to revisit it.

Brainstorm for a domain name
Look for great combinations ask your friends for great name combinations. Like if you have a mortgage site; it would be great to have word combination that has a relation with mortgage. This will make your domain name more unique and more attractive to potential visitors. Have some phrases that you have listed and pair it with words that you know that would sound great and have your friends vote on the best possible word combinations.

Make it easy to type
Great domain names should be easy to type. Use short names so that it can easily be types especially using mobile devices where you have small keyboards to type on. Since you are choosing a domain name in relation to marketing; then use easy to type letters so that those who are using mobile devices can easily type the domain name. This will help increase traffic to your website as your target audience would feel that visiting your website will spare them from much stress and anxiety of typing difficult domain names.

Make it easy to remember
Ease to remember the name will make your domain name more popular. Especially if you are going for word of mouth, then if your name is easy to remember then it will do great for your efforts. For people to talk about your brand it is important that you have a very catchy name. Make sure as well that your domain name is a familiar word.  This goes to say that you should avoid using names that only you can relate or a jargon that only you can remember.

No numbers
Do not fall in love with numbers. Avoid it when choosing your domain names. This is not a good practice when you are making the choice of the best domain name for your web site. Most people can hardly remember the numbers on domain names.  Inclusion of numbers to your domain name would only make your target audience experience stress and anxiety as they have difficulty in trying to recall the right set of numbers.

Getting the best domain name is not a walk in the park. It is a product of good planning, execution and best of all ingenuity. You will not be able to do it alone. Always have someone to help you choose for best results.

How to organize a successful birthday party for your kid?

Like all other parents, you would definitely want to organize a grand birthday party for your kid. Contrary to what many people believe, you do not need to spend an exorbitant amount to organize a successful kid’s birthday party. Here are some tips that you must follow to host your child’s birthday party within budget.

Determine the theme: Theme based birthday parties are rapidly gaining popularity among all individuals across the world. When choosing a theme for the party, make sure that it goes well with the overall ambiance and birthday style. Some of the popular birthday party themes that you can choose from are – rainbow themed birthday party, a super-girlie birthday party, a Ghostbusters themed party, a wet-o-wild birthday party, a football themed party, a candyland birthday party, and milk and cookies party.

Venue of the party: Once you choose a theme for your party, select a venue accordingly. Make sure that the venue you select is suitable for the theme that you have already chosen. Kids love animals and they will enjoy the fullest if you host the party in a zoo. The experience of wearing a safari hat and touring round the zoo can really make the party memorable and fun. You can also organize the party in a pizza parlor. If the parlor allows, you can arrange for a pizza making competition as well. Hosting a birthday party in bounce house, video game arcade and ice skating is also a great idea.

Food: With many little kids in attendance, arranging for yummy and healthy food items is one of the important components of planning a birthday party. Some of the kids’ friendly foods which can be selected are sandwich, bread rolls, sausages, garlic bread, hamburger, pizza, cheese cubes, fruit salad, chocolate tart or strawberry tart, chocolate fingers, fish balls, popcorn and chips. Serve the kids with delicious drinks like fresh lemonade, watermelon juice, hot chocolate and fruit smoothie.

Games: Without any exciting games and fun, your kid’s birthday party can soon turn into a yawn session. Arrange for games like musical chairs, hunting for hidden items, saving the balloon, sack race, costume relay, bin bag toss and egg and spoon race. These games can make your party more charming and enjoyable.

Music: To add more charm to your kid’s birthday party, you can incorporate music and dance. Play some music that all the kids are likely to enjoy and should go well with the overall ambiance of the party. You can also hire the services of a party band. If you reside in Cork, then look for some party bands in Cork which are versatile and specialized in all genres of music.

Birthday party favors: To appreciate the presence of the guests, you must delight them with exciting and innovative birthday party favors. Some of the ideal favor ideas for children are – customized pen and pencil, homemade cookies and chocolate, Disney key chain, candy boxes or jars, colorful favor bag, ducky soaps made of rubber, racing cars, finger puppets and party hats.
